Unwanted calls and texts in Arizona: what the rules say
Arizona law expressly restricts certain sales calls and text messages to numbers on the federal National Do Not Call Registry. A separate criminal statute addresses certain automated dialing and prerecorded-message or text conduct.
Where the rules draw a line
Those laws have different definitions, exceptions, and enforcement paths. The automated-message statute is criminal; it does not itself create a consumer damages award.
What this can mean for a consumer
Arizona’s Do Not Call provision authorizes Attorney General enforcement and state penalties. The reviewed sections do not create a general private damages action for every covered call or text. Other Arizona consumer-law claims require separate analysis.
Keep the details
Save the full text thread, call log, voicemails, dates and times, the company or product named, and any reply asking the sender to stop. Those details can help show what happened; they do not establish by themselves that a law was violated.
