Unwanted calls and texts in Iowa: what the rules say
Iowa residents can register their numbers on the federal National Do Not Call Registry. The Iowa Utilities Commission directs consumers to that registry and explains that covered telemarketers must remove registered numbers from their calling lists.
Where the rules draw a line
The registry has exceptions, including certain political calls, charities, surveys, and existing business relationships. Registration helps with covered sales calls; it does not block every caller or guarantee that an unwanted call supports a legal claim.
What this can mean for a consumer
For a suspected violation, the Iowa Utilities Commission directs consumers to the federal registry or FCC complaint process. A complaint helps agencies track unlawful calling; it does not itself award compensation.
Keep the details
Save the full text thread, call log, voicemails, dates and times, the company or product named, and any reply asking the sender to stop. Those details can help show what happened; they do not establish by themselves that a law was violated.
