Unwanted calls and texts in Kentucky: what the rules say
Kentucky’s telemarketing law regulates defined sales solicitations by live or recorded telephone communications. The Kentucky Attorney General says the Kentucky No Call list is maintained as part of the federal National Do Not Call Registry. The statute does not clearly establish a general rule for ordinary marketing texts.
Where the rules draw a line
Exceptions include calls made at the consumer’s express request, certain existing debts or business relationships, and other listed situations. Do Not Call registration does not cover every kind of communication.
What this can mean for a consumer
The Attorney General may pursue enforcement and civil penalties. The express private lawsuit found in the reviewed statute is limited to specified caller-identification conduct; the law does not create a general private award for every unwanted call.
Keep the details
Save the full text thread, call log, voicemails, dates and times, the company or product named, and any reply asking the sender to stop. Those details can help show what happened; they do not establish by themselves that a law was violated.
