Unwanted calls and texts in Mississippi: what the rules say

Mississippi’s Telephone Solicitation Act defines covered solicitations to include voice or text-message communications for sales, offers of value, or charitable contributions. The Attorney General says Mississippi uses the National Do Not Call Registry for the state program.

Where the rules draw a line

Authorized calls are generally limited to 8 a.m.–8 p.m. Central time, and the statute bars calls on Sunday. The Act includes exemptions and consent/relationship rules; those details affect whether a contact is covered.

What this can mean for a consumer

The Attorney General enforces the Act and may seek up to $10,000 per violation; each telephonic communication is a separate violation. The reviewed Act allows consumer complaints but does not expressly give consumers a general private damages action or the state penalty.

Keep the details

Save the full text thread, call log, voicemails, dates and times, the company or product named, and any reply asking the sender to stop. Those details can help show what happened; they do not establish by themselves that a law was violated.
